Companies are reviewing their medical device franchises as the Affordable Healthcare Act will put many working in their development and manufacture out of work.
This is another blow to the American patient and healthcare field. We did not receive healthcare with this bill written by the health insurance industry, we received health insurance. Vital healthcare services rendered by medical devices are an expense to health insurance companies. Their demise is a blow to the healthcare of Americans.
Medical devices render an important service in healthcare under their ability to diagnosis illness. After all isn’t finding the cause of an ailment and treating it a major part of healthcare? It is not a major goal of for profit healthcare by the insurance industry. There is first the cost of the diagnosis then there is the cost the treatment. If diagnosis is deterred by let’s say a tax on medical devices, the cost of diagnoses is lowered thus no need for treatment. Medical devices are also part of the treatment of illness. All these cut into the profit of the health insurance industry. This cut into profits can be diminished by taxing the catalyst, the medical devices. It puts the cost of these devices out of the range of health care providers.
Health care providers, patients, and what is required for treatment are all that is needed for healthcare. Health insurance companies are not needed. They render no healthcare service. Yet, their lobbyist wrote the Affordable Healthcare Act. The Obama administration gave us the impression that prior to taking office and as early as the campaign they were working on the issue of healthcare along with the economy. Hopes were high November 2008. January 2009 there was nothing. Still there is no improvement when it comes to the healthcare of Americans. We are left to the wolves of the financial industry called health insurance companies.
More and more jobs will be lost in the healthcare field due to the pork it gives to the health insurance industry. Prevention of diagnosis and treatment is another attack against the health of Americans as was the attempt to change the requirement for mammograms. It is another form of denied healthcare as the denial of insurance claims. Yet we are mandated to pay, to supply the pork.
