This is not the first time government has intervened to stop the feeding of poor children. December 4, 1969 food to feed poor inner city children was set on fire by a government agency. December 5, 1969 these children would not have breakfast or lunch.
Our history is full of private citizens feeding the poor. Soups kitchens traditionally were not government run. It often when the government does not as in Katrina. American citizens were on the side of the road handing out food to Katrina victims leaving the city in their cars. The Mormon church was there handing out food two days after the levees broke as well as the Salvation Army. It was not government that helped, it was American citizens. Government was no where to be found.
Americans helping Americans ends the divide and conquers.
