Santorum targets blacks in entitlement reform - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

Just when it seems that the GOP candidates for President cannot be more misinformed they top themselves.  We will have a President that discriminates. We will have a President that does realize why there is an increase in all Americans seeking assistance.  Perhaps he feels we should all work the jobs they have not created.

At a campaign stop in Sioux City, Iowa on Sunday, Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum singled out blacks as being recipients of assistance through federal benefit programs, telling a mostly-white audience he doesn't want to "make black people's lives better by giving them somebody else's
money."

I guess Blacks will have to take their old slave status and not have the same benefits as real Americans. (sarc).

Is Mr. Santorum saying that Blacks vote for candidates based on Federal benefits? Again the GOP shows how out of touch it is with minority voters. Since Cain did not work to get the Black (vote for him because he is Black) you think they would know how out of touch they are. It is comments and mindset such as Mr. Santorum's that is the reason that Blacks do not vote for the GOP on a large scale.

More stereotypes of inner city Blacks by Mr. Santorum. Yet he deems himself an advisor for Blacks.

The man is a bigoted racist like all the others we have had before Obama, and yet people still vote for him.

As long as we have people like this sitting in any political seat, we will always have racism and bigotry in America.

Do you really think that Bachmann, Romney, or Santorum have the black people's best interests at heart? Hell no! They all come from the Texan racist society of he Bush Klan.

Yet it is entitlements and not racism of the GOP that make minorities vote Democratic vs. Republican.

he doesn't want to "make black people's lives better by giving them somebody
else's money."

OK, that's the first half of the sentence, now what's the second half? By leaving out his ideas for helping the black community, it makes him seem racist and makes this seeder even worse. And that would be a liar as well as a racist. I know because I watched the video.

Or is the bottom line that you just want somebody else's money?

The racism comes because he did not say all people on welfare. He just singled out one group.

And what percentage of entitlement dollars does that one group receive? Do you know?

What does that have to do with it? If one wishes to be President and not give out handouts, then it has to be for all recipients no matter the percentages. Why is it alright to give to non-Blacks to better their lives and not to Blacks. The mentality that created slavery is live and kicking in the GOP.

That never happened and is a ludicrous concept. It is simply part of your persecution complex

    Hardly.

Yes it did happen. You saying it did not is wrong. We all here on the Vine have had much experience with your racist views. That is why your request to certain groups has not been approved.

Who designated you to speak for Newsvine? I don't have racist views, I simply question the truthfulness of statements being made and frequently find exaggerations and half truths by people who are themselves coming from rather racist views. And you don't like being questioned.

Yes you do have racist views. You go against any claims of racism. It is you claim to question, yet your questions are really statements. It is my error to have responded as a rule I do not.

You should have the courage of your convictions and have an answer for my pointed questions. Running away is the last thing you should do. Speak up for your beliefs with an open mind.

You should not dictate to other people what to do. It is your assessment that people are running. It is an insult to my intelligence and a waste of time to discuss topics with someone whose sole purpose is to antagonize, disagree, question and not contribute. That is called a cat fight. Sounds like you are running away from any convictions.

hi Radio long time since my friend, how are you? i wonder is it really the politicians that are out of touch or is it they know the majority of their base are "hater's without a cause"? i tend to believe it's the buzz word plan B, they cannot win a legitimate election so they have to rig the election and gin up the base probably literally gin up the base:). the lies they tell do not fall on deaf ears slightly challenged but not deaf. notice the missing ballots got no uproar of voter fraud? that should be encouragement enough for DOJ to dispel the right wing malicious constitutionally wrong suppression of American voter's in front of the world, if nothing is done i think Holder needs to go with his problems that became an issue after his moving forward on this voter suppression attempt by the right. be strong my friend God Bless

i wonder is it really the politicians that are out of touch or is it they know the majority of their base are "hater's without a cause"?

Good question. If it is to appease the haters, do they realize the damage they are doing to their party?

I have been at McSpocky's February party. I am working on a new group. It is very different. I will send you an invite once I am finished.

thank you i will check the accept tab :+) i think they don't care what they are doing to the party it's about me,me,me let the party take care of itself. Santorum is trying his best to upgrade his right wing hater bonafide's, with no regard to what his kids will think of him. the kids are losing that pointless hate agenda, and i think they'll frown upon mommy and daddy sheet wearer's. stay strong and in touch my friend God Bless

It upsets me how much race baiting the GOP is using. They use religion, hate, any tool they can now. They claim they do not want government in our lives but they have not problem making a state so invasive that it treats most like second class citizens. I hope people are listening and thinking.

Hi Gen Yes there is always the divide and conquer of the concept of race. America defied that GOP divide and conquer in 2008 and we will again in 2012.

If I remember right, the numbers that need help were currently white, black, all citizens being oppressed. To make it a racial issue is so low. They want us all to be their slaves. I can not believe this man is being considered for President. Something ugly has wiggled into the republican party.

RFA, I pray you are correct. I know what side I am on. I am on the side that is best for this Nation as a whole. The republican party has made it clear the next election will determine which direction we will go. I refuse to be part of any national movement to kick those that need the most help. To support only the wealthiest one percent is an insane direction considering what they are doing to us all. They do not value anything but money and disenfranchising the rest of us. What happened?

Amen to that. Always has been. A sharecropper is a just slave by another name. Social programs take away from the welfare for the rich programs. I still see and hear Bush when ever I hear one of the GOP candidates speak.

Um, Ricky. 84% of the people in Iowa who are on food stamps are white. Blacks make up only 9% of the Iowa food stamp recipients. So does that not really point out the prejudice and bigotry of your perceptions? I mean when you single out Blacks whey they are the minority recipients, what else could it be other than bigotry?

Same old tools. Making people scared of other people is a good divide and conquer tool and campaign slogans for the GOP.

I watched the youtube video. He was very kind to Mr. Obama. What's your beef in him speaking factually?

A candidate that took the position that black people were better off as slaves.

A candidate aligned with virulently racist newsletters.

A candidate with the patently racist ideas expressed by Mr. Santorum.

Newt Gingrich, whose record speaks for itself.

These are examples of 'The best and brightest?'

Are they so sure that racism is an acceptable, even necessary part of any candidate they ultimately choose?

Santorum is one of the worst republican candidates in my opinion, and shouldn't be voted into any public office except maybe as a dogcatcher. I will breath a sigh of relief when he drops out of the race.
